A Musical Offering: Creating, Developing, and Sustaining a Meaningful Concert Series at Your Parish
In this one-hour session, Dr. Jacob Benda will give helpful guidance on creating, developing, and sustaining a meaningful concert series at your parish or institute.
“As a parish music director and organist for over 15 years, the heart of my mission was to provide fitting music that uplifted the hearts of the faithful toward the Heavenly Liturgy. In order to do so, one needs not only the support of the clergy and laity, but a broad reach spanning the community to recruit and sustain volunteer or paid musicians ranging from cantors and choir members to instrumental ensembles and soloists. A tried-and-true way to develop a music ministry is to cultivate a series of musical offerings (a concert series) that will not only garner moral and financial support from your parish. but provide an avenue to connect with and engage musicians from your parish, surrounding schools, and local organizations. This presentation will walk you through the necessary steps to develop a concert series from scratch resulting in a ministry of its own that can be used for recruitment, fundraising, and engagement with your parish and beyond.”
