Magnificat anima mea Dominum.
Fecit potentiam in brachio suo: dispersit superbos mente cordis sui.
Deposuit potentes de sede: et exaltavit humiles.
Esurientes implevit bonis: et divites dimisit inanes.
Suscepit Israel puerum suum: recordatus misericordiae suae.
Amen.
(Luke 1:46-55; Gospel Canticle for Vespers)
My soul doth magnify the Lord: and my Spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid: for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
Because he that is mighty hath done great things to me: and holy is his name.
And his mercy is from generation to generations, to them that fear him.
He hath showed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.
He hath filled the hungry with good things: and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He hath received Israel his servant, being mindful of his mercy:
As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his seed for ever.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

(Communion for Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time or Quinquagesima Sunday; after Psalm 78:29-30)
They ate and were greatly satisfied; the Lord fulfilled their desire; they were not deprived of their wants.
O Jesu mi dulcissime — Anerio
Soprano, Alto & Bass
Alto, Tenor & Bass

O Jesu mi dulcissime, O spes spirantis animae; Te quaerunt piae lachrymae, et clamor mentis intimae. Quocunque loco fuero, meum Jesum desidero.
(attr. St Bernard of Clairvaux, two stanzas from Jesu dulcis memoria, hymn for the Holy Name of Jesus)
O Jesus, to me most sweet, O hope of the yearning soul: the tears of the pious seek you, and the cry of the inmost soul. Wherever I go, I will yearn for my Jesus: how happy are those who find you, and how blessed are they who hold fast to you!
O pastor animarum — La Rocca

(St Hildegard of Bingen)
O shepherd of souls, O first voice by whom we were all created: may it now please you to deign to free us from our sorrows and our wounds.
